Still one of my favourite cinemas - you just cannot go past the price. Where else can you get a drink, popcorn and ticket for $10? I love what this business is all about.

Very old cinemas but is managable considering the tickets prices are the cheapest I've seen. Good selection of food and drinks in the candy bar and the staff were pleasant.

My son and I visited this cinema today to see Life of Pi. The movie was very good; the experience however was not. We were in Cinema 3, by far the smallest cinema I have ever seen, with the exception of small country towns. Problem #1: the 3D format lost considerable impact because of the ridiculously small screen. In terms of screen-to-room scale, it was around the same as our home TV. Problem #2: the wall speakers distorted, buzzed and crackled whenever the volume went above a certain level (not very loud at all). As one speaker was just above our heads, this was very annoying. Problem #3: the air-conditioning was so unnecessarily cold that it made us uncomfortable the whole way through the movie. True, the tickets and food are relatively cheap (i.e. $10 for an adult ticket and $3 for medium popcorn) and easy parking is a bonus, but next time I plan to see a 'big' movie I'll pay more and see it at a better venue.

I can not believe that anyone would mark these cinemas below a 5 star. Old world charm, community atmosphere, a great pre-purchase check in service, cheap tickets, cheap snack bar, a snack bar that sells popcoren in small manageable sizes for small kids. They always have the latest movies, and then some - they will occasionally show sporting matches for free. These guys are a fantastic contribution to our local community, they give us mums some peace and quite, without breaking the bank. Thank-you very much!!!

Fantastic cinema. I took my son to see Kung Fu Panda there, as the price at BCC was exorberant, and made it worthwhile to travel all the way from the northside to see it at Hawthorne. Parking is relatively easy as it's in a suburb, and I found the queue manageable. I only wish that they had one of these cinemas in the north side, as it would save me having to travel so far. Good quality screens.
