Hayden's Pies

They're big and they're beefy!

We are a family run business, operating for 13 years. We offer homemade pies using only butter puff pastry with mouth watering fillings. We also have homemade desserts and gluten free pies. Our cook book is now available "Home cooking with Hayden" with many of our recipes from the shop and from what Hayden cooks at home

i arrived at 12:30 and the queue was short, i got my classic steak and mushroom pie and sat down to read the paper and eat my pie... the paper soon lost my attention as i focused on how great the pie tasted, it was indeed one of the best i had tasted, as i looked up the que was now quite long, no wonder with pies this good, which are well worth waiting for, thankfully the fast and competent made short work of the lunch time rush. I will definitely be back soon.

The locals are adamant about pies, warning me off Milton’s gorgeous Heritage Bakery located in one of the oldest buildings in the region, in favour of Hayden’s Pies, that's set rather inauspiciously in a light industrial strip mall. To be honest, I would have probably driven right by Hayden’s and thus missed out on the best Emu and Bush Tomato Pie ($5.90) I’ve ever eaten. Well to be fair, it is the only emu pie I’ve had, but it certainly will ensure that I stop in for another one, next time I’m in this region.

Hayden's Pies might not be easily spotted from the main street as there are parking areas separating the two. Inside, this small but spacious shop has that takeaway feel with some king of a lounge area to eat in, making it quite of a unique take.

The shop prides itself in designer, gourmet range pies such as thai green chicken curry, chicken korma, and even crocodile pies (priced at $6.30 at the time of my visit). They also sell traditional ones starting from $5.10. Then there are gluten free pies, family size pies, frozen pies to go, sweet pies, as well as ...read more
