Love the look, great spot with great views but they need to do something about the food. The line to order on a Sunday (or any other day it may be as well) is ridiculous, surely more people taking orders can only help. Also the seafood bar was lovely and fresh but very expensive for what it is. All round it has a very limited menu but sky high prices. Sort out the order que and we'll be back but if you dont ...no way
Was very disappointed with the meals when our family had lunch on
Xmas eve. All Meals had cold, chewy chips when served. Rare Steak was overdone and cold. They reimbursed some meals but not much joy when you are hungry. Expect to pay Alacarte prices and receive sub RSL quality meals. Other wise ambience is good, great views.
Alcohol prices are steep. Next time I will listen to the locals and give it a miss.
Bar ok. View great. Food - of questionable value and ordinary, even disappointing considering the price.
Why - $26 (each) for a Chicken Parmigiana which was adequate but slightly under-grilled on top, served with lukewarm chips and a salad (her - missing all salad ingredients except lettuce when served, mine - had lettuce with bits of, well, rot).
Attention to detail needs work.
$70 for two ordinary bistro meals and 2 drinks is value?
The same great deal at a nearby 'club' can be had for around half the price. I guess they have to pay for that view somehow
Other meals we saw seems interesting but based on our experience, unless for a drink, the view and maybe to try a dessert, we won't be rushing back.
Impression - a 6-year-old Subaru being flogged as a Lexus.
Will this standard impress?
Us two locals think not currently.
I don't know what is going on with every pub around the Northern Suburbs of Wollongong. Getting re-furbished to resemble some kind of trendy Eastern Suburbs nightclub with only imported or boutique beers on tap and Neon bar lights and stainless steel everywhere but, Headies has, thankfully remained in it's original, rundown and partly condemned, self.
But never fear because it's not the building itself I came here for, it's the beer. It's the food, the crew and of course Headies finest asset: Location.
Headies sits on a head land with views up and down the coast that are so good you won't even notice the pub is about to fall down.
I recommend grabbing a beer and order a seafood platter for $45 well spent, and walk across the car park to the picnic tables on the edge of the cliff, ...read more
