Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge
Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge
Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge is situated at the southern entrance of Alice Springs, below the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges, a three minute drive to the town centre. On site is the Olde Alice, an outback style bar and entertainment area featuring Australian bush tucker, a reptile show, a damper cooking display and sing along music. Wild black footed rock wallabies can be hand fed each night.Heavitree Gap also operates a free return downtown shuttle bus service from the lodge, three times a day Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays.
This place is a few km from the centre of Alice springs, which is a major PLUS - because, after dark, the streets of Alice are all trouble. Heavitree Gap is nicely insulated from all that. It is within view of the Highway, but far enough for noise to not be a problem. I had dinner and breakfast in the attached restaurant - good food, and good value.
The lodge has motel units, and a caravan park, so most people are catered for. Everything in Alice seems expensive, and this place was no exception, but outside the peak season, it is possible to get a discount.
I have stayed there more than once, and it would be the first place that I'd call next time I need to stay in Alice.
