Hello Kitty Diner
Open today
11:00 am - 9:00 pm
It's hard to resist the super-kawaii charm of Hello Kitty Diner. Full from a dinner at neighbouring Simmer Huang, we marvelled at the fitout, curling up in a booth with some Smoked Lemonade ($4.50). This clever piece of Americana is made by smoking lemons then cooling them and making lemonade. It screams tailgate parties and begs for sneaky addition of bootleg bourbon, against a plate of fried chicken and waffles from their wider menu. Equally entertaining is a Salted Pretzel Milkshake ($8) sucked from a striped straw in a Hello Kitty branded handled jar. Yeah I know, I usually hate drinks in jars, but somehow here they're totally okay. The crunchy salty pretzel pieces are a nice touch, making this sweet, ice-creamy drink quite adult friendly.
Bit of fun if you're a fan of Hello Kitty, that cheeky cat we see emblazoned on sox and handbags. My cup of tea was good and the cake, not a home-made one, more meh, or bland, isn't something I Would choose again. The staff were nice and the cafe is fresh and clean. Recommended for the experience.
This place is just too cute! It's not only great for kids, but for adults too. However, the hype about it is a bit questionable. The food is quite tasty, but for the price and the well-known chef attached to it, I was expecting it to be a bit better. The decor definitely matches the Hello Kitty theme though.
Hello Ninja!
Well the hype is now over so i finally got myself to go to the Hello Kitty themed cafe.
The food was "OK" nothing special, the food doesnt seem Japanese at all, more like an American diner. A once off visit but nothing pulling you back in. The decor is cute and staff are nice but im in no hurry back!
Until next time .... Keep eating!!!!
