We found John through the Leichhardt Community Group on Facebook (at last - social media is useful for something!!) I submited the initial request via his website as there were a few things on our list. John was very punctual in calling back, even though we had a bit of phone tag (which was my fault). Very accomodating in setting a day & time that worked for us, and turned up exactly on time on the day. Which is unheard of for a tradie.
We are very happy with the tasks completed so far - mounting TV on wall, broom holder in cupboard, shelf in bathroom and reattaching hooks. Everything was done with care. He also provided some good advice for the other tasks we had.
John will be our go-to from now on - many thanks.
Thanks Ben. It's nice to help people get things done and all the better when they appreciate the service that I offer. I look forward to helping you again soon.
Helping Hands Handyman is just that. John is personable, professional and extremely helpful. A small but slightly unusal job and he was brilliant in his quote and same day service. I highly recommend him, his business and his services. Many thanks John.
Neen called me and I could hear her frustration. She'd made more than a dozen calls, even to some of the other big professional handyman services, and the best she got was 'we can come in three months.' I'm just one guy, but I don't have the big overheads and processes that can get in the way of good service. It's nice working on a person-to-person basis, especially with people who care and value each other. Making money is important, I am running a business, but that doesn't supercede other values like courtesy, kindness and mutual respect.
John was easy to deal with, friendly and well-spoken. He made short work of fixing five little household repairs, ranging from wobbly table legs, to hanging pictures, to replacing a dangling light cord back into the ceiling with a more durable base. He was able to come quickly (booked on Friday, repairs done on Monday) and turned up at the pre-arranged time. I would happily recommend him, and use him again myself.
I first called John when I had an urgent but small job that needed doing. My gate was being held together by octopus straps and when I got locked out I realised we weren't going to be fixing it ourselves. I called John and described the problem - he said 'I think we can do better than that!' After fixing that John has solved a range of problems for us and come up with some creative solutions. Our tiny built in wardrobe now has been adapted to a much more useable space with built in shoe storage. No longer am I tripping over the hose that needed to be mounted on the garden wall, or slamming doors that won't close, or walking past a range of repairs and projects that we haven't got round to. John is professional, courteous and most importantly, he arrives on time, let's you know what he can do, gives you a quote so you know what it will cost, sets a date, gets it done and is a pleasure to have around. We also have animals and John is careful to make sure they are ...read more
Thanks Meredith. It's nice that you value my expertise and skill. It's always a pleasure working with you.
We've got an old house. Tired of working on it. Also tired of tradies who turn up when they feel like it, disappear for days half way through a job, leave a mess, cut corners, don't listen or decide that their idea is better than what you asked them to do. And so on. We stopped the work and watched our house crumble. Eventually, though, we had to get some things fixed. We found John.
John calls when he says he will, turns up when he says he will and gets the job done quickly and neatly (without the radio, as Chris2040 notes, below). Communication was easy - he listened, offered solutions and did what we needed to have done. The only disappointment is that he won't take on the new kitchen I want. Too big a job.
John is businesslike and courteous and his work is done to a high professional standard. I won't hesitate to call John again when need him, or to recommend him to others.
Thanks for your kind review, Barbara. I appreciate that you acknowledge the things that I think set me apart from others in this business, showing up on time, listening, offering workable solutions and cleaning up after the work is done. I'm there to solve problems, not create them. You mentioned your disappointment with the kitchen. One of the hardest parts of the job for me is to say no to work that is outside my core mission. I often encounter jobs that I 'could' do, but choose not to. I'd rather disappoint someone up front than later down the track. And it never hurts to ask though, because sometimes I know someone who can do the job. Alas, no kitchen contractors come to mind these days.
