There is ALWAYS a line outside this place and every raves about it. Maybe all the hype is the rest I was so underwhelmed. The bread they use for the rolls is so hard and sharp that it actually cut my mouth when I was eating it. The filling is good but I have had so much better in Sydney and elsewhere. Great concept. Maybe if they softened their bread it would be better?
Hong Ha, there are many haters out there, but there are more lovers. The lines don't lie I have frequented this Mascot institution many times over the years. Are the roll's as good as everyone says?
There are legendary tales of Bahn mi being sent down to Melbourne airport ground handlers by Sydney airport staff.
For mine this place has the best chicken rolls in Sydney. I do rate pork roll at other places higher. But this is a Hong Ha review.
Although they have new sign, the set up has not changed since it opened. The counter is run by pro's when it comes to assembling bahn mi. Many stallwalts that have been there almost as long as Hong Ha. Your order will always be follewed in response, you want ...read more
Drove all the way from Randwick to Mosman for these rolls. I looked online to see what time they closed. It said 4.30pm. I made it there by 4.20pm. I walked in and saw the ladies packing up. I asked are you closed they replied "yes". I was disappointed that I made it with time to spare and they still did not serve me. There was a group of people there also who expressed disappointment as they too said they drove a long way to make it and still get no service. I use to come to this place when I was younger to have the rolls with my mum whenever we were in the area. People use to line up down the street during workday lunch hours to get some of this yummy rolls! Now the name has changed from 'hot bread' to 'Hong Ha'... I don't know if they are under the same management... But service was poor. If you still want to give this place a try, make sure you get there way ahead of time.
Used to totally love this place. Today I noticed that the store has decided to shrink its rolls. They're now about two thirds the size they used to be.
You have a hugely popular business that's always busy so why do you feel the need to do this I don't know.
Silly, I won't be coming back.
