I really liked the village shops feel to this place. It is really sweet and quaint but always bustling with activity as it is a main attraction in the Hunter Valley. There are a lot of things to see such as the beautiful gardens, the british lolly shop, the garden cellars and the hunter valley chocolate company. You can spend quite a bit of time here just getting lost in the little shops and gardens. A really sweet area.

Always worth a good look around. A great place to stop off for some great food or take your own picnic.#reviewtowin

Having whisked away to the Hunter Valley for our anniversary, we spent one of our days at the Hunter Valley Gardens during the Food & Wine Festival. The gardens are spectacular on their own with various themes such as the popular Rose Garden, The Oriental Garden or The Sunken Garden featuring a gorgeous waterfall. You can really get lost in the tranquility of the place & whilst I haven't been to one, I can imagine holding a wedding ceremony here would deliver a lifetime of memories & amazing photos. There are ample places to throw down a picnic rug & enjoy a picnic or a good book, take a peaceful stroll through all the various displays or set up the family in one of gazebos. They offer kids activities throughout the school holiday, a shopping village for the shopaholics or festivals throughout the year where you can try the wines & cheese of the valley in one place. Highly recommend a stopover if staying in the Hunter Valley & just want some timeout.

Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours or so in the Hunter, and half price available to guests at the Mercure, otherwise $25 p/p is a little steep.

The different themes (Japanese, Italian Grotto, Storybook, Rose etc) are well laid out and good for photo ops.

My daughter as a young teen was pretty bored and couldn't wait to leave. The heat that day was oppressive so worth bringing a hat and bottle of water!

Probably best out of the heat of the day and when a show or special display (Xmas lights etc) is on offer. And bring your walking shoes.

Cafe and gift shop also on site.
