The most expensive Bok Choy I've ever had. $17 for a plate of steamed bok Choy. Ordered mixed vegetables and the Bok Choy came out instead. The noodles were ok. The reviews said this place was good value, not true. $17 for a plate of steamed Bok Choy when we didn't order it. Management staff rude. They said, 'this is very good Bok Choy, not rubbish from the markets'. Not value for money at all.
As a bit of an Asian foodie, I love following my friends to different restaurants in different locales around Sydney Metro. Hurstville Chinese Restaurant is a small to medium size outfit located on the corner of Forest Road, Hurstville (one of its main streets). It is a decent restaurant with solid food and a good variety of Chinese dishes including roast pigeon! The restaurant is relatively full at nights, although the stiff and upcoming competition has probably affected its business to some degree. Nevertheless, for some solid Chinese food offerings, I wouldn't be remiss to recommend this restaurant.
Went there Sunday week ago for lunch. Splurged on the food, but didn't order off the English menu, we just asked for how they think it should be cooked. It worked a treat. Service was attentive and prompt, without being too pushy. Full of Chinese, it was packed and we got the last table and I can understand why.
Personally I have been to a lot of Chinese Restaurants in Sydney and I wouldn't say that one is better then another nor will I say any of the Chinese Restaurants are bad in anyway. Put simply that each has their uniques style of operation and food delivery.
Hurstville Chinese Restaurants like any other Chinese restaurants in Sydney has the traditional tastes of Chinese Culture while utilizing modernised and Fresh local Australian produce.
I believe that my comment and expectations cannot judge on how this Restaurants perform but will strongly suggest to try it out yourself.
The last half star that I have not given as a full five star restaurants because I believe that this restaurant should expand to accommodate more customers as I always sees a lot of hungry customer waiting for a table at night even after 8:30PM (possibly waiting for the specials in Hot Pot) =D
Hello Parge and Kebo013,
I am new to this review however it seems to me that this review weren't really helping me in deciding which restaurant is meant to be good. I am heading down South for a dinner with a family of 20ppl this weekend and was wondering what are the good choice in Chinese Crusine and from what I see, you guys are only debating and to give a negative image to the business while damaging its reputation rather than given it a fair review. Has any other people got better suggestions or should we try this out? Need to know by today to arrange a booking.
Thank you!
Quote: " I am going to suggest that you haven't been to many Asian Restaurants in the area, as this is normal. I have been to plenty of restaraunts. I review plenty and unlike you don't just review or comment on the one." What do you mean? Maybe this is the problem with the ordering, they didn't get what you mean.
All I'm saying is that all your reviews are not accurate since you only ever been to a restaurant once and for all. How could you possibly say that you are right and they are definitely bad? Or is it that they didn't met your so call high expectations that you have to be so harsh on saying they are bad?
If you are so good in operating and running a restaurant with your so call high expectations by all means establish your own restaurant and I will be the first to put up a review.
Well Kebo013 we will let the Truelocal community decide.. to believe a person who has set up an account with the guts to put their own picture on it? Or a person who has done one review, defending a dumb and nothing else?
I am guessing you are directly linked to this restaurant in Hurstville, otherwise where are your other reviews? Why so passionate about one review of ...read more
One review by this reviewer suggests they are an employee of Chinese Restaurant in Hurstville, rather than a true local. Trust the strength, trust the truth, trust a "star" and avoid this place from a true local.
Hey Guys,
Just went to this Chinese Restaurant on Saturday, one of my mate recommended, we had 15 ppl booking on the night. Had lobsters with noodle base, abalone and some other veggie and meat dishes. They weren't really that bad and as a matter a fact they taste quite good and the presentation are done nicely. I saw the other table who had a hot pot so I asked the waiter what is it and he said they were a large abalone cut slices and cooked in hot pot with chop chili and specially made soy sauce, they also give you a dozen lot of dumplings and veggies.
I will definitely go back for the hot pot and had recommended to my colleagues at work.
