Hyde Park Backpackers Hostel

This is the worst place I have ever stayed!!! They only accept cash and require you to pay up front. If you can convince them to use credit card they charge a 4.5% fee. You are also expected to pay a $50 deposit for your key, $3 per towel and $3 to use the washing machines. Each resident is charged a different amount for the same room. Everything is filthy including mattresses, linen, towels, rooms, floors etc. The toilets and showers only work sporadically. To top it all off there were cockroaches and bed bugs. The fire alarms do not work. Paint is peeling off the walls and there are also holes in the walls. There are limited utensils in the kitchen, the fry pan is aluminium, and one of the hot plates on the stove doesn't work. The other residents also were totally disgusted with the conditions and were in the process of finding alternative accommodation.
