Okay, this place may be nowhere near as magnificent as its namesake in London, but it still is pretty cool. In fact it is probably more like a baby brother version of Central Park in New York (not that I've ever been to New York, but that is beside the point). A large beautiful park in the middle of the CBD.
It's a nice place to relax and have your lunch or just have a stroll around.
The park is famous for it's Archibald fountain and the ANZAC War Memorial - Which is free to visit as well. They also have beautiful garden area and a tree walkway.
It's definitely a place to go if you're visiting Sydney.
Hyde Park is quite a nice place in the centre of Sydney. It is very heavily used and it is often, unfortunately, a little worse for ware. That said - there are some really nice things like the memorial, the fountain and the sculptures. It is a big area and you can wander around.
I don't love the seedy cafe near museum. I feel like it could be a much nicer area.
I also don't really like the chess set area because it seems a bit 'groce'.
Still - nice enough.
