This Ibis is one of a few entry level stay options in Melbourne CBD, and is actually quite good in that. The location is a little bit away from the main events of the food and shopping district, but being very close to Southern Cross station has an advantage of its own.
The hotel has a slightly added security procedures when checking in, requiring every guest who stay to present their ID for checking, not just the name of the person who booked. Then there is a slightly more pre-authorisation amount required for ...read more
I am compelled to write this review because i was extremely disappointed when i stayed here. Heres a short but non exhaustive list of reasons why -1) i paid more than the 'daily deal' for an twin share and i can safely say i would have got better accommodation in a backpackers...2) they charged me a security deposit of $50 for stuff i 'may use in the room' yet i kid you not there was a ONLY 50ml box of milk in the bar fridge. 3) room service, you order it and pick it up yourself from the reception...4) they advertise as a 3 -3.5 star hotel..i think this is misleading advertising based on my experience...5) the decor is yuck - like a bright yellow, the rooms lack even the basics eg. there was no bin in the toilet....like not even a sanitary bin. 6) You pay for everything including safe storage of bags once checked out - and even this is timed for 4 hours i think i paid about $11 for a locker - the alternative was leaving my bags unattended in a room that anyone could just walk ...read more
Although the hotel is decent enough, the staff leave a lot to be desired. I organised family to stay here to attend a funeral however was unable to contact them as I was repeated told that "there was no one there by that name" so we were left to call via mobile global roaming. Staff are neither knowledgeable about the local area nor particularly helpful. On top of that the hotel advertises disabled rooms and we booked one but did not get the room we booked and had to be reshuffled.
