I love Icehouse it really is great!! I go and have skating lessons there and it is fantastic! The only disagreement on my point of view is that on school holidays they send you all to the 1 rink unless you are in hockey! SO crouded for jumps, Can't skate backwards and if you are about to crash the walls are TOO CROUDED!!
Melbourne's premier ice skating rink, perfect for beginners to professionals and is used by Australia's winter Olympics team, and you can tell why. The services are great and isn't too expensive, considering that ice skating itself isn't cheap. For a once off I recommend renting a pair of skates and bring a friend to grab on to, for those planning to go more than once skates are almost cheap enough to get outright and not have to worry about what else has been in them before.
Came to Melbourne for a little break with the kids since they were on school holidays and I decided to take them ice skating here at Ice House. We went on a Friday night, and they were open until midnight (of course we didn't stay until then but it was good they were open until late, gives the kids at any age something to do). The price wasn't too bad but if there was a lot of us skating it does seem quite pricey. There are 2 big ice skating rinks, a cafe and some skill tester games. They would have more places/bench to sit in the area of the two rinks. The location of Ice House is good, its not too far from the city center and its right next to the Harbor Town Docklands, which also has a little theme park across the road from it.
Having another ice rink closer to home, the 'Ice House' is not a rink we had visited, until very recently. Now we wished we had been taking advantage of this marvelous sporting/social arena much sooner. By car, the trip is a breeze from the south-east suburbs. Immediately accessible from the Docklands end of the Bolte Bridge, and with the excitement of Harbour Town on its doorstep, you will not be short on ways to turn an ice-skating session into a full day. Loving that the 'Ice House' go that extra mile at Christmas time, for families with younger children, or the young at heart. The 50 minute long Christmas on Ice spectacular was very entertaining, with heart-warming characters, and a very witty script to keep the adults laughing at the jokes intended to go over the heads of kids. Of particular interest to one of my companions, was the audio and lighting set up, - Clearly no expense has been spared, to provide stadium audiences with a truly professional show ...read more
