Il Divo Restaurant & Bar

It's been a while since my partner and I went here and we are glad we paid a return visit. They've spruced this place up a bit with nice white table cloths, decent wine glasses and cutlery. The menu is quite good and I have to say our food was superb. The anti pasto for two was more than an ample serving with plenty of variety on the plate. This place was not the best! It was just one bad thing after another!
They had advertised $10 Porterhouse Steak with a free glass of wine and kids eat free at the front of their restaurant so thats what my partner and I had in mind.
When we asked about the deal we got told that the deal that was displayed was a mistake (funny enough it had been advertised like that for weeks before we got there!) and that the actual deal was for a Sirloin steak not porterhouse! We also got told that the kids eat free was only if you are spending min $40 at the place (they never had a * on that one!) In the end I was the only one to order the steak, my lil one and my partner got lamb shank. When they took the orders, they were trying to rush us but funny enough, they weren't busy! Nothing special but certainly wasn't the worst place I had been to.

Due to the reveiw from eddiep02 (below) we decided to partake in the carpet baggers steak which was cooked to absolute perfection and so tender just melted in our mouths.

Service was really their downfall however.

We started our night with a jug of lemon lime bitters which we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for. Our entrees were even slower, taking a total of 45 minutes after ordering to come out. Abit odd since all we ordered was oysters natural....

All in all Il Divo was not too bad, and I probably would go back if I was just after a nice little meal and a glass of wine somewhere close to home (proximity 2 minutes down the road) but not somewhere I would celebrate a special occaision.

I have been meaning to try this restaurant for quite some time and I am glad I finally got around to it. Il Divo has something for everyone.

If you are on a budget, the $10 & $15 menu baord has an excellent variety. The main menu is also excellent. I chose the Carpet Bagger steak ($28 - ordered medium) it was a wee bit over cooked but was still excellent. My wife ordered a pasta dish with chicken & white wine (from the $15 menu) it was really good. I was going to say the best coffee in the south west suburbs, however I changed my mind on reflection and I dare anyone to find a better coffee in the whole of Melbourne. For this alone, I have given this restaurant an extra half a star.
