This is a great traditional Italian restaurant with some delicious choices. Everything is freshly made and dishes are great value. They also make great pizzas. Try the cauliflower gratin and a simple margherita pizza. The seafood is lovely too and service is prompt and cheerful. You are made to feel like part of the family.
Run by a family with an obvious love of food and pleasing their patrons, Il Forno has a menu featuring many of the Italian classics, some interesting regional variations (fried caulflower gratinata) and some wonderful flourishes. Try the Lasagne, made at home by the owner's mother every few days takes you to another place and time, while the wood fired pizzas are spectacular. Try the pizza con gamberi, strewn with an embarassing amount of large prawns - certainly value for money and consistent from one week to the next. A regular haunt for this family of two adults and two young childen, Il Forno is one of the south eastern suburbs' best kept secrets. Bookings essential. Atmosphere, quality and resonable value. Or just order takeway pizza if you can't be bothered.
