IL Gambero on the Park
New location but the same great atmosphere, food and service that has made it a Lygon Street favourite for over 30 years.Il Gambero is an icon in Lygon Street and has been satisfying the diners of Melbourne for more than 30 years. A dramatic fire in August 2009 forced the restaurant to close its doors for a period of time but it has now reopened just down the road, across from the park offering the same great experience that Melburnian's have grown to expect in a more modern and larger premises with a fancier name - Il Gambero on the Park.
Known for a large menu including pizza, pasta, seafood and steak choices, as well as excellent DiMattina coffee, they pride themselves on good "old fashioned" service and friendly atmosphere.
Children very welcome!

I first ate at Il Gambero as a student and recently revisited my student days. Not only did it bring back good memories but the food was fabulous, the service awesome and I really want to go back soon! Everyone enjoyed their meal and there are lots of nice touches that I really appreciate. Things are changing in Carlton but Il Gambero is still fantastic!
Started my sisters hen's night here yesterday. Everybody greatly enjoyed their meals, our waiter was a hoot and there was a very warm feeling here. We were all a bit silly but we weren't made to feel unwelcome, neither by staff or other guests. During one of the hen's dares she was made to serenade another table and the whole restaurant started clapping and singing along lol. Places like this are few and far between these days and I would certainty recommend it and I'm bringing my man there later this week! :)
Came here for dinner with my colleagues.True Italian food with very friendly staff.staff was explaining disges in detail and constantly takibg care of the drinks on the table. Taste was awesome.
