Ilan's Acupuncture
Acupuncture turned Ilan's life around in more ways than one. At the age of 28, when backpacking around South East Asia, Ilan contracted a near-lethal combination of dengue fever and hepatitis A. When he was finally well enough to return to Australia, the illness still burdened him with chronic fatigue. After being recommended to go for acupuncture treatments from doctors and friends, Ilan went for his first acupuncture treatment and for the first time since he fell ill, he felt alive. This fuelled a fascination and passion for Eastern medicine within Ilan and it led to lengthy studies and intensive practical training. Once he completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine at UTS, Ilan first travelled to China to attain a Diploma of Internal Medicine, Acupuncture & Massage from the Japan-China Friendship Hospital, Beijing, then he went to live in Japan and work with a highly regarded acupuncturist Edward Obaidey in a traditional five year mentorship. Whilst in the mentorship, Ilan was immersed in the Eastern lifestyle and philosophy to the point of learning the language to study Chinese medical texts written over 2000 years ago. Ilan?s mentorship was strict and encompassing, as was the mentorship of his mentor and the long line of Japanese acupuncture mentor/apprentice relationships before them. Ilan eventually returned to Australia, bringing with him the rare knowledge of Japanese acupuncture and bringing relief, a state of well-being and the feeling of internal balance and harmony to many thankful Sydney-siders.
