IMAX Melbourne Museum
I liked the Jurassic exhibition but two adults with three children came to nearly $200! Am I living in a different universe or is $32 per ticket per child expensive? Such a shame as the museum has lots of interesting displays and the IMAX theatre is great fun too. If we want people to pursue science and culture it needs to be affordable.
Great location for IMAX cinema, surrounded by a beautiful national park, a museum and just a great place to roam around outside the cinema complex if youre there early or want an activity to do post the movie. Ive been here so many times that Ive lost count. The complex is quite new, offering few movies sessions at any given time. You have the convenient of booking online or purchasing over the ticket counter. Suprising enough they offer package deals, group rates and special offers. I only recently found out that they are worlds third largest IMAX and spans a massive 32 metres wide x 23 metres high. They additionally offer a membership club, which cost$20 for a 12month period, with a renewal fee of $5 each year, Which allows up to $2-1 savings across selected movies and few other goodies, not bad for those who spend a fair bit of time watching movies.
when the movies here are good they are great (past greats have included "Shakelton, Space 3D, Fantasia, Alaska, Africa the serengeti") but they are "hit and miss" (Past not so greats "Earth Wins") and its' not always easy to tell from the clips on their website. as the movies only go for 45 mins the admission fee is very pricey (especially for young children. Although I can fully appreciate how expensive it is to make these films on this large format and maintain this large theatre, its just too expensive to take the family especially when the documentary/movie is not a winner.
