We have had a wonderful experience with " Independent curtains", we also have lots of friends who have had beautiful curtains made and couldnt be happier with the results. The staff were lovely and the manager came out many times to work with us and help choose and design custom made curtains to suit our house. We couldnt be happer and get lots of comments on our curtains.
I ordered curtains only to have them delivered slowly, sloppily installed, ill fitting and damaged from being amended. You would get a better product at 10% of their price from Bunnings or Spotlight. The track is falling off (within 24hrs) after two attempts at re-fixing, not to mention excessive damage to walls by unnecessary drilling, chipping and scuffing. Asking for a full refund atm.. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED
In Sept 2013 we paid $7000 to have 12.6 meters of curtains and pelmets fitted in our home. Over time we discovered that there were many problems with the installation and we brought these to the attention of Independent Curtains who chose to ignore our complaints. We supplied an independent report (by a member of the industry) which Independent Curtains dismissed out of hand. We took the matter to The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal which required both parties to attend and present their case and supporting evidence. We supplied a list of 28 items which needed to be addressed, supported by 43 photographs and 2 more independent assessments by companies in the industry. Still Independent Curtains refused to acknowledge the problems, but decided to go on the defensive and threatened to bill us for the time it took them to respond to our complaints, ($6891.50!). We had a similar experience recently. The curtains we ordered incorrectly size,d incorrect opening and missing all accessories. They outright refused to reorder the curtains, and only willing to repair them with resultant damage to the fabric and curtain hems left barely adequate, and still too short.
The installation was so poor that the tracks fell off within 1-2 weeks. This was after two attempts to secure them. Our walls are so badly damaged that it now needs filling and repainting of over either 1cm drill holes. The installer left several areas of damage(10-20cm scuff marks) to our paintwork.
THEY ARE NO LONGER ANSWERING MY EMAILS, SMS OR PHONECALLS.
SO AFTER WASTING A LOT OF TIME, WE ENDED UP WITH DAMAGED WALLS, DAMAGED TRACKS LEFT LYING ON THE FLOOR, CURTAINS WITH FABRIC DEFECT THAT CANNOT BE HUNG, AND $5K OUT OF POCKET.

I paid top dollar and the end product was very average and not exactly what we agreed on either. A few mistakes were made, but my biggest gripe was that the management seemed to focus heavily on the business side of things - closing a deal and bargaining etc. and was just not focussed enough on making it a quality service for the customer and making it a pleasant experience.
Alot of negative feedback why didn't you go to the Dept of Fair Trading obviously they need to be put in place
