We went for lunch and were told to sit in a booth or table. We sat at a booth. The manager then came over and told us that he needed the booth in case a family of 5 came into the restaurant (there were two booths free). He didn’t apologise or help us move our drinks or menus. We then sat at a table and we asked to speak to the manager. The manager was the one that asked us to move. We complained about having to move everything ourselves. Instead of apologising, he took the menus, drinks and water away from the table and kicked us out. The manager got in my partners face and was very rude. The chef apologised as he walked passed. We called the owner later that afternoon. He wasn’t apologetic and was rude, and said that people from “outside of town” have no opinion.
The food was pretty good, and who doesn't like a drink after a hot day?
We chose this place because of the cane toad races, as we had a French exchange student with us, and we thought it was something quite different. We were entertained by the toads for an hoy or so, and we had lots of fun posting photos back to his family saying "frog meets toad", as we decided to call out French boy "frog ", as his name was hard to pronounce .
He didn't mind, and he is enjoying talking about this special night out with all his Parisian pals.
So many places to eat in Pt Douglas but this is one of the best for casual dining. Service (bar and food) is good and the meals are excellent. Try the Coconut Creme Brulee - best I've had. If you get a chance check out the Cane Toad racing in the upstairs bar, be prepared to kiss a toad though. It's suitable to take kids for a meal and then to the Cane Toad racing. The kids have a great time with the Cane Toad racing. There is a fee but I have been told the money is used to help eradicate the Cane Toads.
