Izakaya Arigato

There wasn't any Japanese food in the "District" food gallery at the Chatswood Interchange so we made a spontaneous visit to this little restaurant. The staff were so cheery and helpful as we looked pretty confused walking in. There's a fine in menu and also a long counter of countless pre packed takeaway bento style dishes to chose from. It was pretty cool how you could order the takeaway but still dine in because there were so much to choose from! We ordered the chicken katsu bento and the beef udon which were all packaged as takeaway in case you couldn't finish it you could still take it with you. After you pay the staff even take the order to you and there is a condiments stand were you can load up on the extra teriyaki and chili sauces free of charge. Totally recommend this place - it's well portioned, great value food with great service!

Izakaya Arigato is a relatively new shop located at the newly revamped Chatswood train station building. Occupying a corner shop, this medium-sized shop feels relatively spacious with plenty of intimate seating arrangements inside the slightly darken ambience room and even lovelier outdoor seats with wooden benches and larger tables.

This place is not always that busy, something that I don't understand as I've really enjoyed my visits. There is plenty of covered outdoor seating and some indoor seating- all is very open so not the best place to visit on a very hot or cold day. I've visited for lunch and find the location very convenient (right next to station) and pleasant (set bak from road on 'Eat Street'). Decent value, good lunch sets.
