Izakaya Goku

Welcome to Izakaya GOKU West End At Izakaya GOKU, our experienced chefs prepare mouth-watering traditional Japanese food with a variety of dining options.

Izakaya

It is a type of informal Japanese drinking establishment that serves food to accompany the drinks.

Izakaya Dining

Food is normally ordered slowly over several courses rather than all at once. The kitchen will serve the food when it???¢?¯?¿?½?¯?¿?½s ready rather than in formal courses like western restaurants. Little Foody 2 Shoes
Review to win entry OVER 8 years AGO

On a visit with a friend for dinner we ordered the pan fried pork gyoza, chicken & avocado and vegetable tempura sushi to share. They were all so full of flavour and arrived on the table quite quickly. The sushi rolls were perfectly sized to eat in one bite and were still deliciously warm. The dimly lit restaurant is quite intimate and even though it was quite busy we weren't hard pressed to hear eachother which I often find in many restaurants. The staff were so friendly and had us seated, fed and watered promptly. Great value for money here too.

Always consistent food and consistently friendly service. My partner and I have been coming to this cosy joint in Moonee for at least a year now. My only suggestion is some change to the menu. The dinner menu hasnt changed the whole time we've been going and we no longer need to see the menu to order. A broader range of sashini would be great too - but it seems to be the case in Melbourne that sashimi is limited to just Salmon and Tuna. Bring on the Akagai and Tsubugai and other delicious Japanese sashimi.
