I don't think I have ever been welcomed into a shop in such a friendly manner as what I have been in this beautiful gift and accessory shop. The two ladies that I have encounted there over the past couple of years are delightful. I don't know if these two lovely middle aged women are the owners, but if they are they should be giving lessons to other retailers on customer care and learning their product knowledge. A delightful experience in such a delightful shop.
I am from Melbourne but I have been visiting Portarlington regularly over the last couple of years and one of the highlights of each trip is having a good browse at the shop Jade in Newcombe Street. Not only are there always new beautiful things to discover - the regularly changing stock includes an eclectic mix of homewares, clothing, jewellery, beautiful greeting cards from local artists and photographers and ornaments sourced from all over the world, I also each time learn a great deal about the background and whereabouts of the things that catch my interest as the very knowledgeable and pleasant shop owner patiently answers all the questions about her stock, and this is, no matter whether in the end I actually buy something or not. I was pleasantly surprised when I initially came across this gift stall. However my shopping experience rapidly turned into a shopping nightmare thanks to the rudest retailer I have perhaps ever come across. My mother and myself were belittled and humiliated by the retailer for over ten minutes for having touched the stock on the shelf.
