Lamb was good, but to pay for a cafe dinner in the Hills around $60 a head you have to really deliver something special. Portions were tiny, nothing really to mark as out of the ordinary. Service was the usual Hills service - if you come from the Plains, you wouldn't like it, but it is reasonably informal here. It looks like it went downhill - nothing changed or improved ambiance-wise, just pretense to be something that it isn't. The only highlight - we discovered that there is Parkerville local red wine, and it's not bad!
Another very average meal at Jane Brook.
Entree of baked Camembert was totally tasteless, good thing there was sweet chilli sauce (bottled) to spice it up a bit.
Main of chicken parmigiana was also tasteless and lacked salt. Would think that the cheese might add some flavour but no such luck. Partners main of fish was 'slimy and not very nice'
Dessert of lime and ? tart was partially edible although the pastry base was too thick and uncooked.
Service was better than the food although main course plates remained on the table whilst dessert was served and stayed there!!
