Although Janus at Westfield Sydney has been occuping a large space of Westfield Sydney for around more than a year, the number of patrons flocking this place are still in the low numbers. I have recently revisited this restaurant to find out if there are elements in this restaurant that might explain the absence of crowd, considering that the last time I went there I experienced beautiful food with beautiful service.
I wasnt as impressed this time. We ordered two pasta plates, one small linguini carbonara and one large Alaskan king crab pasta. There were quite a few tables of diners but only 2 waitresses working, so our group had to wave our arms around a bit to get someone to take our orders. We ordered Salt & Pepper Calamari entree to share and a main each (Beef Burger, Grilled Chicken Burger, Chicken Quinoa Salad, Prosciutto & Rocket Pizza, Spaghetti Bolognese).
Entree arrived together with a plate of haloumi and the waitress explained they were sorry for the wait. As we were having our mains, a second dish of Salt & Pepper Calamari entree came. I think the orders were somehow repeated but Janus very generously gave that to us for free.
Food was delicious at very affordable prices.
I guess it's understandable that with limited staff, it's difficult to give excellent attentive service to every table. We really appreciated the free entrees!
This is a really busy cafe / restaurant in a great location. Seating is limited but takeaway also available. I had a sit down lunch, ordered the lamb and grilled haloumi on soy & linseed sourdough. Definitely a two handed affair. Incredibly tasty and was full afterwards. Staff are attentive when seated. Great lunch location in the CBD.
Located at the busy Westfield Sydney, Janus is probably already a winning restaurant just by its location alone. It is also doing a great job as a more up-scale Italian restaurant.
