A slightly renovated basic hotel that has a great location near Melbourne central and the Queen Victoria Markets. The skybus from the airport is a cheap and efficient way of getting here. The staff are a little blunt, and even after asking for a quiet room, I was out near the elevators and didn't get much sleep due to noisey guests slamming doors and talking loudly.
After a terrible nights sleep and having to work a full day I requested a transfer and was luckily given a much better room at the end of the corridor. Rooms ending in 7,8,9 are ideal.
The second room was bigger, quieter and I managed to sleep very well.
I would only stay here again if I would be guaranteed a room at the end of the corridor, if not, be prepared to not get much sleep.
Jasper Hotel has an amazing location. It is situated in the vicinity of Queen Victoria market, at the final fringe of the current Melbourne CBD free tram zone, and, if this is you, next to a 24-hour McDonalds.
Coming in, they have a spacious Jasper Bar & Kitchen at the lobby next to the reception desk where the friendly staff are.
The entry-level room that I stayed in was quite small but it felt quite spacious, especially when the large window across the bed lets in the natural light and gives the vintage Melbourne view.
The bathroom appears to have been recently renovated, looking very modern and complimentary branded toiletries, although the sliding door can be quite unfriendly at times.
The room comes with free Wi-Fi and free Foxtel with original remote control, and the 11am checkout is also a nice addition.
Was here over the F1 week.
Absolutely no complaints. Starting with the location, which is on the north-side of town and dead centre. Just two blocks from the free tram ride. There are also trams down Elizabeth street heading North and South Melbourne. The Hotel is in the Tram Free Zone which is nice.
I felt the prices was more than reasonable, booked three months in advance and considering it was over the F1 weekend. Above average but fine nothing ...read more
