Jed's Food Store
Hidden away on Warners Avenue in Bondi, Jed's Food Store is a pleasant surprise for those walking about seeking a fresh, great tasting breakfast or lunch. The cuisine has a Jamaican edge that will appeal to those who are seeking something different – taste the Jamaican porridge with baked bananas and lime zest. If you want to be healthy, why not order one of the frappes full of fruit and nutrients? The fair trade coffee will also appeal to the socially conscious. Meanwhile, enjoy the casual, eclectic atmosphere with the mismatched cushions and plates.

Great for a weekend brunch. It can get very busy so you might have to wait for a table but it's worth it. Great mix of 'different' breakfast options - lots of mexican. Eggs Kurosowa comes with scrambled eggs, tofu and a large portion of quinoa. Coffee is good too. Prices not cheap, but to be expected in Bondi.
Jed's is a really popular spot and can get so busy on weekends that I don't bother coming very often. But when I have the patience to stick it out and wait for a table, it's always worth it. The service can be a bit basic, and it helps if you're a local and know someone working there (annoying but it's the same in so many cliquey Bondi cafes) but it's not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. They do some pretty unusual and unhealthy but brilliant-for-a-hangover dishes like the potato cakes with bacon and maple syrup. It's not your average cafe food and has a Caribbean-Mexican kind of bent, with burritos and Jamaican porridge some of the best dishes here. The eggs kurosawa is their signature, and comes with brown rice, nori seaweed, teriyaki tofu and wasabi. Not my bag for breakfast but really popular and apparently awesome.
I LOVE the quesadillas here. I am not a big "spend a load for brekky" type person, but for 8 or 9 bucks, this is awesome value. 3 packed corn quesadillas, with a scrumptious homemade salsa (I want that recipe!), and a bit of salad on the side, it is nearly enough for two people! Always busy, great coffee, and an authentic collection of Mexican ingredients (La Costena) for those refried beans, nopales etc. The chorizo scrambled eggs were ok, but it's those quesadillas every time for me. WINNER!
