I've flown with Jetstar nearly every time I've flown domestically and have never had an issue. Sure they are budget, you have to pay for anything you want to eat or drink on the plane, to pick your seat or if you have extra baggage, but what else do you expect when you're paying such little compared to other airlines?
One great thing about them is that they price match and beat a competitors price by 10% when you find another flight which is cheaper. You just need to have an online chat with them and it can save you hundreds. Brilliant.
It's not my favourite airline to travel, although we don't get much choice when flying domestically. The menu choices are pretty good, but I find the air hostesses rude. Had a bad experience with this airline last year when I flew from Melbourne to Sydney return. The airline double booked our seats and then wanted to spilt us girls up (5 travelling together). Wouldn't let me take my hand luggage on board as I had placed my handbag in a carry bag plus I had small case, so they flew my case seperately which was upsetting even though I offered to pay a fee they declined as stated it was too late. Luggage arrived 10 hours later! Missed half a conference I was attending. When they announced plane was desending, I packed away my laptop and placed the item under my seat, only to have an air hostess lean in and put my seat up which I thought was extreemly rude. I don't want to fly with them again unless desperate. BTW - note to person who made decision on the colour ...read more
I've traveled with Jetstar, both domestically and internationally, many times and have always been pleasantly surprised that my flights have never been cancelled and luggage never lost. This weekend I arrived at Cairns from Osaka Japan and had a 6 hour wait before checking in for my connecting flight home. Hungry and exhausted, I resigned myself to the fact that I'd have to sleep on the uncomfortable chairs in the check-in lobby with nothing to eat. To my surprise, a Jetstar staff member approached me and offered to check me in early so I could enter the departure lounge where the restaurants are. I never expected this from a budget airline. I prepared myself for my luggage on that flight being lost, as I had checked in so early, but everything worked out fine. Everyone complains about leg room and poor food service on board, but it's a bit unrealistic to expect five star service on a budget airline.
had experience with jetstar with a cancelled flight which we didn't receive notice of by SMS (when they had our mobile details through the booking details) till we arrived at airport for our flight. They offered us accommodation and taxi fares to/from airport to stay in townsville overnight and $100 travel voucher to use in 3 months. it has been a nightmare to get them to follow through on these promises and 6 months later we are still chasing them up. extremely poor.
Was late to arrive by about 1minute according to the lady we reached when we arrived to check-in and they wouldn't allow us on. Everything went down hill from there. The flight we were able to get on next was a 8.5 hour wait and then that one got delayed twice and they were not giving us any answers. That 2nd delay after the 1st 1hr 10min delay.. the plane had arrived and they were about to open the gates to let us all board but then they were advised to tell us unfortunately we have to wait another 30-40minutes. They weren't helpful and informative at all. And also they kept changing the gates of where to board. We found out through the screens and other people we're actually still waiting at the old gate until my dad decided to go and check if others were waiting because we never heard anything over the speakers - and they said they did call it over. It was a long and hectic day. I'll be laying off Jetstar for a while...
