Jinnah's Tandoori & Seafood Restaurant
Part restaurant, part tribute to all things Pakistan and Bollywood, Jinnah’s will keep you amused with its colourful tapestries, life-sized cardboard cut-outs, photos of celebrities and ornamental arrangement of traditional pots and pans. Start with freshly fried vegetable and cardamom pakoras, fried prawn multani with black salt and fenugreek and spiced minced lamb Seekh kebabs. For the main course: spiced Lahori fish with a tomato base. Soothe your tasebuds with a rose lassi with cream and some rice pudding.

Rude service for expensive average food. Menu was taken away from my son's hands because he might "break" it. Made to feel uncomfortable throughout the meal. Food reheated in microwave. Very average lassi cost $7. We were the only people at 7:30 on a Saturday night; now I know why. Had better take-away at half the price.
I have dined at Jinnas a number of times and truly appreciate the kitsch surrounds and the food aint too bad either. My criticism has to do with the treatment of customers and staff by senior staff. The first time we dined there, being the only customers, and in the original restaurant on the ground floor, we were told we must sit at the first table. This may have been alright if there were only two of us, but it meant that the third person sat, under the spotlight that shone in, a bit like the interrogation room up Marrickville police station. After a short discussion where we were told that we could see our dinner better under the light, we disobeyed orders and moved a little further up the restaurant. When the food arrived we said we ordered plain naan, not whatever it was he brought out. Apparently you can substitute anything for anything, without consulting the ...read more
There are a few things I miss about having moved from Dulwich Hill to Gunnedah, and one of them is definitely Jinnah Pakistani restaurant. We had many great meals here over the years, and always loved introducing friends to it. I hope it still offers the same range and value as before - when I'm next in Sydney for a few days, I'll make a point of eating here again.
This is a unique restaurant given that they serve Pakistani cuisine amidst a room decorated in quirky memorabilia and a ladies loo plastered in Harry Potter gift wrap. All curries are served on little burners which keeps the food hot which is very thoughtful. We were quite overwhelmed with the extensive menu, which I may add is tastefully presented as a newspaper.
Prices for curries range from around $14.90 (Butter Chicken) to around $25 (seafood curry). The curries are delicious, you couldn't fault the food or the rich flavours. However we found $25.90 for a very modest serve of seafood very overpriced. Stick to the
cheaper curries, try the daal khushbudar
and enjoy the ambience of this unique Pakistani eatery.
