My wife has been taking her car to John Donohue Auto for over 2 years now and has been more than happy with the service received at each service. She feels very comfotable in leaving the car there knowing it will be thoroughly checked and looked after. Her last service was only 2 days ago and she forget to ask them to check the windscreen jets as they weren't working. We rang & they said no problem, just drop around and we will have a look. When I arrived with the car 2 of the mechanics basically dropped everything to find the issue under the watchful eye of the owner John. I was most impressed with how thorough they were taking their time to find the problem during their busy day. I left with a huge smile on my face & much gratitude. You don't see this type of "family type" service very often these days! Thanks guys, I will recommend you to all my friends & will start bringing my own car to you from now! Very happy customer! :-D
I have been going to John for the last year. He is the most honest, friendly and thorough mechanic I have ever met. I’ve brought my vehicle down at the last minute and he has always made the time to look into it for me, given me honest advice and has never ripped me off. I have recommended John to a number of my friends who have used him and they have all said exactly the same thing. Always met with a smile and offered a coffee when I arrive. A+ service and would recommend to anyone.
The team at John Donohue were really helpful. Whether you're like me, Kia Carnval kid mover, or custom car owner (the Pontiac and HZ owner's seem to value John's work), you will get an honest apprasal and high quality work. It's rare to find a mechanic who has the integrity of getting the job done right, such as I experienced on site. And I would have no problem with John letting a 'kid' work on my car. How else does an apprentice learn from a Master? I'm old school when it comes to cars and workshops having grown up spending a lot of time around cars and mechanics, and I'm fussy. I will definitly be coming back to John's if I have any car problems in the future.
This shop wouldn’t pass the RWC test because the tiniest wiper scratch, which against VSI 26 – Roadworthiness Requirements, plus I would never take my car to service there if I saw mechanicals let their kid working on customers cars.
Soan In my opinion and based on my experience, everyone assumes their car is Roadworthy. I am being asked to sign a legal document stating the car meets a roadworthy standard. Unfortunately this process does not always provide favourable results with my clients. I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I was not comfortable passing your windscreen with the wiper blade wear clearly visible. Sorry for your dissapointment Soan, but I do have no choice in relation to these matters. I have a squeaky clean record with Vicroads, because I don't pass items that need to be reported.
Very dissappointed - lack of service and integrity.
Looked online for a quality roadtesters to road test my car, which had received a full service a day before - these guys were recommended, so expected them to do a good, honest job. Left the car in their shop in the morning, was told the test would be $150, would take 2 hours max and I would receive a call after it was completed.
Ended up having to call 4 hours later to ask about my car. When I went to pick it up, they told me the car would need $500 worth of extra maintenance, eg. wipers at a wrong angle, seatbelt slightly frayed etc. However, they were willing to overlook the seatbelt issue if I sent the car to them to fix up(alarm bells ringing).
I was skeptical - took it to another roadtester where it was passed with no issues. Overall, dissapointed with the experience - would not go back again.
Very sorry for your disappointment in regards to what I believe could be a Roadworthy inspection. If a policeman booked you for speeding, would you believe they were doing a good job? Just because I have to report faults does not mean I have done a bad job. I accept that you may find fault in repair work carried out by me, but it's unfair to criticise the items found on a Roadworthy Inspection.
