John Smith is a small little cafe at Botany Street which acts as an oasis to the otherwise a busy and cluttered street and suburb. They have somehow managed to turn the small area into a beautiful place with modern hipster feel, attracting a lot of people from all different kinds of spectrum including young people and families.
There are just enough seats available to make the place feel quite spacious, leaving some with waiting times to get seated (there is, by the way, some outdoor seats, but they are not as atmospheric).
The food here is very unique and heartwarming. The herb stuffed mushroom dish was very delicious. It comes with poached eggs and cheese. The house made toasted granola, berry compote and coconut yogurt bowl was also very fresh. Both came out very quick and came out fresh too!
The people are a bunch of friendly staffs and baristas, makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable.
Went to John Smith café with a friend today for lunch. I’ve been here before and it’s a great café. Pretty popular and nicely styled with a range of benches, tables and stools at bars for seating. Nice and light inside and has the vibe of a coffee industry.
We got seated and ordered our coffees which came out really fast. They had beautiful latte art and a really nice smooth taste. My friend ordered the breakfast salad that was a bowl of spinach, quinoa, beetroot and hummus, roasted roma tomatoes and a poached egg and an add on of smoked trout – a very healthy dish! Delicious and fresh! I got the mushrooms, which came on a slice of rye with goats cheese, spinach, salsa verde a poached egg (very nicely poached) and a side of grilled chicken. It was a large size and very filling and also seemed very healthy. There were some beautiful looking desserts, but we decided not to get them as we were satisfied and full…but possibly another time ; )
Cute little cafe. A bit small on the inside so most of the time you will have to wait for a table unless you are one of the first ones there. We got a seat near the counter where you sit opposite a book shelf which was different. Ordered the poached eggs with bacon and greens. Even though they were busy staff were friendly. Coffee is good here too. They have booth style seating available too for the bigger crowds.
Amazing food and friendly staff. My favourite waiter with the beautiful long eye lashes is gone but the pulled pork eggs benny is not so I suppose I will let it slide. The daily specials and cronuts are awesome but sell out quickly so go early for those otherwise the pulled pork eggs benny is truely amazing. There is usually a wait so give yourself extra time. I honestly beleive that in Sydney a place without a wait on a weekend probably isn't that epic so to me it is a good sign.
This place will not dissapoint so go there :)
