I’ve been attending this clinic since our original doctor moved to practice there. We’d had that doctor since 1983. I estimate I’ve been attending John Street Medical Centre for 25 years.

I’ve found that the reception staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I can always get in to see a doctor in an emergency - not always my own doctor, but a good doctor nevertheless. ...read more

We live local to this doctors practice and my husband visits the practice yet when my son needed a dr they were abrupt and told us to use kingborough medical centre. Sad and disappointing

Very impressed with everything about this Medical Centre (except some waiting times), but having said that when you get in they never rush you and are thorough, professional and friendly. I like the fact that some things can be handled by the nurses and the reception team are a delight to deal with. Not that I WANT to go there often, but when I need a doctor, I can always get in and receive helpful advice or service.

I know exactly what you mean. I don’t want to be visiting any doctor after many, many hospital admissions and many Specialists. I find that if I have to visit a doctor, they are a very good crew!

I called to try to get an appointment after hearing some good things about this centre, but I have never experience such a rude reception staff. After going through appointment times (clearly unwell i asked for the earliest i could get) the staff asks if I have been there before, when I reply no I'm told they are not aking on new patients and the phone is hung up in my ear (in the yellow pages it states 'our books are open so give us a call') Wouldn't you at least ask if its urgent? You're in the business of helping people at least higher employees that can show some empathy or common courtesy.

I get it that you’re disappointed but it’s always a good idea to meet your doctor before you find yourself in an emergency situation. In such cases where books are closed I guess you can ask for an opening. Any conscientious Practice can’t squeeze new patients in at the expense of theirs existing patients or overworking their very busy staff for a phone emergency. As an existing patient I have come to expect my appointment to be efficient but not rushed. Most Practices would react with a similar result and suggest, in a real emergency, that you visit the ER if you don’t already have a treating doctor. Don’t wait until you’re desperate to book in to see a new doctor. I always make it a rule to meet a new specialist when I’m sitting in his chair - not in an ER bed.
