The process of meeting couples, getting to know them, working out a plan that culminates in the perfect day of photo taking, art making joy.
I believe that weddings are one of the last few traditions we still share with our family and friends, and to photograph them, preserve them, is an honour.
I came to wedding photography in 2011 after studying photography for 3 years and at first pursuing fashion and advertising work. While this was great, when I tagged along as a second on my first wedding there was my 'bam' moment. What a blast! Working intimately and creatively with a couple to preserve a one off event that is so special and exciting for them and me. There was no going back, I had to pursue this unique and very real form of photography to the end.
I have developed a natural, honest and quiet style to my images. They have a film like quality and whilst I love an epic shot of a beautiful couple in a breath-taking spot as much as the next girl I know that moments, both grand and small are the key to our memories of our wedding days.
My aim is that when you look back on your pictures you will remember intimately how it felt to be living that day. I approach the day as a narrative capturing the grand moments as well as seeking the quiet ones to tell the story. Julia photographed our wedding in Brisbane in October 2013. On so many occasions since then we've been grateful that we chose Julia to be part of this day with us.
Julia was wonderful to deal with right from the first email inquiry, all the way through to receiving our final edited photo package in a very timely fashion.
She was a pleasure to be around, feeling like part of the group, or fading into the background as needed. During the 'photo shoot' after the ceremony we felt relaxed and happy, and never felt fatigued with the process or like we were being asked to do anything silly.
We ended up with literally hundreds of wonderful, beautiful, photos that perfectly capture our entire wedding day, plus all of our friends and family.

Julia has an incredible talent for capturing the feeling that surrounds a wedding that tells a perfect narrative of the day. I love that her shots are not contrived or 'insert bride and groom here' she takes the time to get to know you and work with your personality to create memories that you will treasure.
