Kamay Botany Bay National Park
Kamay Botany Bay National Park offers an idyllic daytrip from Sydney, filled with significant historic sites, amazing landscapes and heritage-listed attractions.
Separated by the marine-rich waters of historic Botany Bay, the park's northern and southern headlands feature a unique combination of natural and cultural heritage.
This incredibly historic park, home to Captain Cook's first arrival point, is really well maintained & full of walks that anyone could undertake. There's even a section where voices & other sounds greet you as you come around a corner!
Whales can apparently be seen mid year from some points within the park.
Only -ve is the visitor information centre which seems to be more of a 'goods for sale' centre than one with information for visitors - though it is staffed by a ranger.
Snakes. The Park is best driven to, on two walks through from Cronulla I had one brown snake and a large black snake on the path, the second time another brown snake on the path and some kind if green snake so I had to go off the track ( scary) the browns will chase you, wear boots and jeans as these snakes like to sun bake on the path.
