Karen is a registered psychologist with 30years' experience in psychological counselling/therapy in the public and private sectors. Some common issues that Karen has treated include complicated grief and loss, where clients have years of unresolved grief; anxiety disorders such as phobia, posttraumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety, panic disorder; anger; depression; chronic pain; nicotine addiction; relationship problems. Karen is experienced in counselling clients with histories of childhood abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. Her area of special interest is trauma and phobia. Karen uses a number of therapeutic approaches in her work, depending on the presenting problem. These include cognitive behaviour therapy, gestalt two chair therapy, interpersonal therapy; solution focussed therapy, grief and loss counselling, EMDR (eye movement desensitizationand reprocessing), NLP and hypnosis.
