It is sad to have to write a negative review but, this Vet Clinic/Hospital in Karingal is certainly overpriced. Whether is a simple consultation or else (e.g. having a dog's nails clipped) their fees are extremely high. People running this place have an attitude as well. My pet did not need X rays and else but, so I was told and had to pay a lot of money as I am a pensioner. Teeth clinic comes for some $ 800 . Nail clipping $ 80. Fortunately, my neighbour gave me her vet in Patterson Lakes and, what a great difference in service and price.

Have taken several dogs here over the years and they have been very good - but I have a couple of complaints. My dogs teeth are in pretty good nick - only one with tartar buildup and a very tiny bit of plaque on two other teeth. Was quoted $730 for a dental plus more if there are any tooth extractions. Another local vet (Beach Street Clinic) recently cleaned a friends dogs teeth for only $480 including 8 extractions (his teeth were in real bad shape) and they quoted me $250-$300 for a clean plus a little extra if any extractions are needed. I also have been told that possibly her teeth don't need a clean when I described her mouth to a vet and I will take her in to be examined. This I found out today when taking a second dog in that had an accident where his dew claw was ripped off aaccidentally and he was bleeding. Beach Street vet only charged $79 to remove the rest of the nail, clean it and gave me pain killers for him; and threw in annal gland cleaning for free. I ...read more

Very helpfull caring and Honest staff/Vets. Our 15 Year old Kelpie cross, Saxon, has trouble breathing in hot weather due to a laryngs issue. (common in older dogs like ours and labradors). We made it clear to all staff from the momement we walked in that his comfort was FAR FAR more important than cost. They quoted us $489 to sedate him and perform an endoscopy and associated proccedures. They also warned us the the only proceedure that may help was a tie back of the laryngs. Aprox cost $2,900-$4000.00.
I made it clear that if, in their opinion it would help him breath easier then make the arrangments for the opperation.
However, After ispecting the affected area they said due to his age, 15 the opperation would yeild minor, if any worthwhile results. I was only charged ...read more

I have had mixed experiences with this clinic. A few years ago our poor cat was hit by a car on a busy road, we called ahead and said we were coming and our cat was critical, we rushed there with him on a flat board as he wasn't walking and were told to take a seat as vets were on lunch. My mother showed the receptionist the cat who was now beginning to struggle to breath and was very close to death the staff still continued to say just take a seat and they should be back soon. So me and my mum sat there with our dying cat waiting for the vets to finish lunch. Once we got in to see a vet, doctor was fantastic, they instantly gave pain relief and was very quick and thorough and unfortunately he didn't make. ...read more

Having only just moved to Melbourne, I will always be grateful that out of all the clinics in the area, I chose Karingal Vet Hospital.

Experiencing complications after an ACL repair (TTA) which had been done elsewhere, my dog was treated with great care, expertise and love, and I can only describe the service as being of the highest standard.

The vets were very knowledgeable in general medicine as well as that particular area of orthopedics, conscientious and thorough, and prices were very fair. Not only was I very impressed with the veterinary treatment itself, but also the willingness to refer me to a specialist when the vet (promptly and correctly) diagnosed an additional complication (patella alta) that cannot be dealt with in even the best small animal practice.
