This bar and grill is on the top level of Bondi Junction shopping centre and near the cinema so it is perfect for grabbing dinner before a movie. It is a large restaurant so not too many dramas with it being booked out. I went with my family for dinner and service was prompt and friendly. We got some amazingly soft and sweet bread to start and a few drinks. All of the table ordered a steak of different cuts. With the exception of one, most steaks were a tad over (ie the medium rare was medium, the medium was well etc.) The ones that were cooked effectively were the rare ones. That said, it is quality meat that was very nice. We got a range of sides like sweet potato fries and stringy onion rings which were great. I like that the menu is super large, you can choose your sides, sauces and order extra additions. In the higher price range so suitable for a special dinner.
Best place for ribs. Juicy and slides right off the bone. Prices are a bit high, especially since the large ribs are about $50! We ended up sharing a large ribs with side of fries! They also give free bread at the start, and chocolate mints when you pay! Service can be slow, and a bit average especially when busy. They do have colouring in sheets and pencils for the kiddies. Very child friendly.
It has been known in my circle that people eat steaks at Kellys mostly for its novelty value. Many of my friends agreed that they are overpriced for average quality steaks.
So when my friends and I decided to go to Kellys for a Christmas celebration one Sunday evening, we decided to do it differently. We shared some entrees, salads, and even mains and the result was heavenly.
The snails entre was a nice dish to start a meal, and so was the pumpkin salad that we ordered very fresh and was generously served.
For mains, we had several pork ribs and lamb ribs ordered together with chicken breast and boerewors add-on combos. Whilst the add-ons were not that exciting, the ribs were succulent and perfectly cooked for a delicious devouring!
Our strategy gave us a filling, satisfying meal, and a more affordable one too (we ended up paying only around $30 per person)!
