This place is why banh mi is big in Melbourne. Don't let the queues deter you. Even though the place may look busy, it is never a long wait. The staff will have your food ready before you can get your cash out to pay.
The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The pate, mayo and assortment of meat choices will have you drooling.
Looking for a decent feed for lunch under $8. This is where you should go,
Ive noticed that there are several of these joints dotted throughout the Melbourne CBD. The Banh Mi is more tailored towards western tastes and can be hit or miss. Generally the bread roll is soft and tasty. I rate the quite turn around with the serving time and good if you are after lunch for less than $10 thats pretty healthy and where you are low on time.
There are a few Kenny's around now but this was the first one I ever saw. Kenny's serve's a blend of traditional bakery goods mixed with what you'd expect from a Vietnamese bakery, banh mi etc. Unfortunately, I feel they get lost in the middle. The pork rolls are nowhere near as authentic as you'd get in a traditional Vietnamese bakery - and at a decent price hike vs your usual Vietnamese bakery...then the bakery fare doesn't seem to have the love or care you'd get from a good country bakery. All in all, good if you have a hankering & you're there but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit
Needed a quick sweet fix and just happened to be right in front of this bakery/cafe. It was rather empty which encouraged me to go in because I wanted quick service. I ordered a vanilla slice from the friendly staff. The pricing was reasonable for something in the CBD and the serving size was decent. As for the vanilla slice, it didn't quite taste like a vanilla slice, the cream in it was different, but in saying that, it didn't taste bad either. It was different, but good.
