Having recently revisited Kingsgrove Chinese again (we have very persistent friends ;) I feel it is only fair that I re-review this restaurant. I don't know if the chef has had a revamp or change over but the food was wonderful on our last visit. Again, we ordered the Mixed Entree, Hot & Sour Soup and Sesame Prawn Toast which were spot on. The soup was not watered down at all and full of flavour. The fried rice was tasty and the portion larger than expected. Our main meals (Mongolian Lamb, Beef & Black Sauce, Sizzling Seafood Combination and Combination Chow Mein) was plentiful for 4 people and again very tasty. My general experience from other suburban chinese restaurants that I have been to is you usually get the authentic home-taught chinese flavours in the food for alot cheaper than the City counterparts where you pay for the decor. Unfortunately Kingsgrove just did not meet that criteria. The meals were quite expensive considering the portion sizes and each main meal did not really have much flavour to it at all. Overall, I think I enjoyed the vegetables the most. Such a shame because I love chinese food and I left feeling quite disappointed by the food. On the flipside I ...read more
