Serving premium Japanese barbecue since 1999, Koh-Ya is a great talking point with dishes like diced ox tongue. Also try the special wagyu beef rib finger. Make sure you bring plenty of friends, or you risk drooling over strangers shoulders while jealously eyeing their plate. For under $40 you can experience their all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet, featuring 16 kinds of meat and seafood, as well as salad, rice and miso soup.

I was very happy when I heard that Koh Ya moved from their long-time Neutral Bay location to Randwick. It seems only fitting that they move to a more prominent place where most of their customers are based.
The new place is much more spacious, and of course much cleaner and has a modern fit out. Although they no longer have outdoor dining area, the place has a lot more seats than before. They also have a children's play area on the side, which is another plus.
The all-you-can-eat buffet price has gone up quite a bit, and we were not in the mood of a feast so we ordered some a la carte dishes. The salads and rice dishes were quite standard bordering boring, although their meat selections for barbecue is still top notch. The portion sizes are quite decent too.
Despite being busy, the staffs were quite attentive and the food came pretty quick too.
Koh Ya at Neutral Bay is very well known by almost all of my friends as the must try Japanese BBQ restaurant in Sydney. For just around $40, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat BBQ from a very extensive list of dishes (seafood included!), making it an absolute value even for those who are not big eaters.
The all-you-can-eat option allows you to order within the first 60 minutes and consume them for 90 minutes (which is the standard reservation time slots). ...read more
