Koko Espresso Bar
Koko Espresso Bar in Surry Hills is a chic cafe serving good quality coffee and light gourmet meals. Try the bacon and egg sandwich with Gruyere cheese, or choose from a selection of classic fillings or salads. Coffees start from $2.50 and have earned a reputation for being some of the area's best.
Far from the notion of modern cafe scene is this small cafe located at the famous Devonshire St. Koko Espresso occupies a relatively small space, but with open entrance allowing the natural air and light to flow through, the place feels very cosy.
The shop are selling wraps, sandwiches and salad of many kinds (including magic mushroom) for easy lunch options, in addition to the coffee and the usual beverages. During my visit they were also selling paleo smoothies, something that keep this place relevant if anything.
My friend and I ordered the chicken sandwiches and a wrap. Whilst the wrap was quite small, the sandwiches were very large. The food was quite fresh and tasted clean too. The price points are very reasonable too, with the mains no more than $10 each (during our visit).
The staffs are very attentive and courteous, although it did took a while for the food to arrive despite an absence of crowd.
I work in Surry Hills. There are about 20 places closer than Koko where I could buy a coffee. I literally walk passed 4 of them on my daily trip to see Phil for my caffeine fix. One of them downstairs in my buidling.
I suggest you also walk passed all the coffee shops standing in the way between you and Koko to get your coffee. It's worth it.
