seriously well priced lunch, terryaki for under 10 bucks and it tastes great

Fresh, tasty Japanese in a modern restaurant. Ordering off the ipad is made easy with pictures and categories. The dishes are priced fairly for Japanese and food comes out relatively quickly. It's all tasty and great.

I can't recommend this place enough.

Staff at Kokoroya is exemplary of the Japanese hospitality. It starts with the enthusiastic chorus of irasshamase on entering the restaurant. Water is promptly brought to the table. The staff is most obliging with any requests. Ordering is now via an iPad system, with food arriving VERY promptly. Our order had barely worked its way through the electronic highway and voila the miso soup appeared!

The food quality is great. Over time, I have sampled the side dishes of agedashi tofu, agedashi squid, takoyaki, soft shell crab and duck breast. For hot food, I love the beef and veggie hot pot. Child friendly Japanese. Great kids menu and children's play area. Menus are on iPads and the service is excellent. Nice variety of small dishes and larger mains.

I've been to this place a few times now, and apart from the decor I cannot really find the things that make this restaurant stand out from the rest. Whilst they continuously attempt to compe up with new food concepts (such as moving the sushi from the trains to the cart and name them japanese yumcha), their foods are pretty much of standard quality but with slightly added premium to the bill. So unless you are really in the area, I don't really see any reason to give this place a try.



Given the nature of the local community read: students) and more japanese restaurants opening nearby, Kokoroya definitely needs to come up with fresh concepts and better pricing for it to stay competitive.
