A fairly simple local pizza restaurant. The pizzas aren't amazing, and the toppings pretty plain. It's a nice family friendly restaurant, but it's not anything amazing. Cheap pizzas, suitable for an easy night out, but there are much better places to spend the evening in Paddington.
I first went here in 2003. It was the first time I had a duck pizza and it was so delicious - it was the first memorable fusion dish I've ever had and I'm so happy that 12 years later it's still on the menu.
I loved the thin crisp base with perfectly cooked mozzarella topped with thin slices of duck, Asian greens and hoisin sauce~
The place could do with some sprucing up but the food is still as good as I remembered~
They have so many dishes on the menu that I'd have to come back to try their pasta dishes (mmmm Gorgonzola gnocchi).
My partner and I had just recently moved to paddington, and we had heard things about kookaburra cafe, and as I had a birthday coming up I gave the restaurant a quick call about holding a function. I got loads of info and the prices they quoted were reasonably cheap! My party had about 25 guests and the staff had arranged the entire back half of their huge courtyard for us, there was a bar, full table service and everything was within our reach. We ended up ordering about 7 party pizzas at $60 each and they were HUGE!! We had literally every topping off the entire menu to try! It worked out to about $16 per head and there was plenty of pizza left over for all of us to take a few slices home. Our waitress was friendly, always checked on us and was even very helpful with us with sorting out the bill and arranging change if we needed it. All in all, it was such a great night!
