TKIS is a small, struggling school. TKIS is small (around 200 students) and was able to give my child more care, however this depends on teacher or staff doing so (not really the school). Often has lack of empathy displayed. Lack of computers and IT education in Primary school. Primary school has little excursions and language education. The high school is worse. Half of students are OP 'ineligible' (do not go for OP as too dumb or want to do other things after school), or drop out before finishing senior school, and those that do get an OP achieve OP 10 or above (eg 14 or 15). Only one or 2 students achieve OP 6 or 8. School has a great athletics program. Other subjects lack resources and library also has no new resources. School focuses on uniform and appearance in greater public. School has no waiting list. School fees are very affordable, which is a plus. Some parents are happy with school, many, like me, are not.
Five children attending Kooralbyn School. Moved to the area so we could access this great little school. Teachers and staff are caring and awesome. Kids love it.They offer Mastery Programs in areas like Golf, Equestrian, Aviation, Tennis, Swimming, Athletics, Drama, Performance and Music. They also have what they call a SUPr (Specialised University Preparation) Program for students in high school. Two of our kids are in the SUPr program. Can't say enough about the school.
My kids both went to TKIS and they loved it. Both in uni now. (Youngest graduated 2 years ago). Both have nothing but good things to say about it. It's a little school sure, but it has VERY high standards in dress and behaviour. Those students who DO go through to year 12 do very well with OPs. They don't have much Vocational Ed, but their academics are fine and they offered my daughters all the normal subjects English, Maths A,Maths B, Physics, Chem, Biol, PE, Technology. Drama, Film TV, Art I think also Mod History and Music. VERY small classes. My eldest had only 5 kids in her Maths B class - and 4 of them got VHAs and the other a HA (like to see THAT in a big school). They also offer a lot of mastery programs in Equestrian, Golf, Tennis, Athletics, Aviation. For a little school I think they offer an amazing range of subjects. I was on the P&C for a couple of years so I know the reason most parents remove their children from the school is because the school has a ...read more
Lack of subject choices, no swimmimg program, very little interest shown by school in interschool sports, very few school excursions, no school camps in senior school, No formal or Pre formal in year 10, general lack of resources in science subjects ( ie students having to share 1 scalple between 15 students on many occassions)
Overall: The primary school at kooralbyn tends to be of acceptable standard, but the senior/high school leaves a lot to be desired. A severe lack of ...read more
Where did you get your information from? We've had five children attending TKIS for the last three years and compared to the other schools we've seen in the area, this is head and shoulders the best school. They've been listed in the Top 100 schools in the state for OP results every year except one in the last seven years. They DO have a swimming program. Their science resources are great. They DO have interschool sports. Please be more responsible with your reviews.
