great food, great service, great atmosphere, great price.
Its nice to go to a cafe/restaurant and feel satisfied with all of the above. And the kids felt comfortable and they loved the food too. We will definetly be back next time we are in Gisborne. PS try the Calamari
Yes, I'm back again. I was up on the Gold Coast on the weekend and ate at a couple of cafes in Broadbeach and Surfer's Paradise. Considering the prices (high), the food was lousy and the service was poor. I returned to La Cibo and I have no choice but to announce the quality of the food and the great service provided. Sue, the owner and chef is a lovely lady and made me feel very much at home. Again full of locals - what better confirmation for "the place to be" can you get.
Being someone that travels for business I frequent a lot of cafes. I was at La Cibo on Anzac Day and was very pleased to see a thriving business that was obviously very popular with locals. This is always a good sign that they must be doing something right. The owner and chef (Sue) was very friendly and took the time to talk to many of her customers, even though they cafe was full. Even more impressive was that the food was still being delivered quickly and to a high standard. The other staff were friendly and efficient making sure all customers were well attended. I have to say that their 'special blend' of coffee was some of the best I've had anywhere! 'Shozmc' comments are definitely a surprise and a contrast to my experience. I had Eggs Atlantic, similar to Eggs Benedict, but with smoked salmon. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the hollandaise delicious and at perfect proportion. The only other comment on my food was that the portion was generous ...read more
Service was slow and disorganized, tables were dirty and full of plates. Coffee was cold and took 15 minutes to arrive. Food was average, ordered eggs Benedict but received no hollandaise sauce making it a simple eggs on toast. Will not be rushing back anytime soon....
My fiancee and i went to La Cibo for breakfast 7/5/11 after staying in Gisborne for the night. When trying to decide which cafe to go to we went into one in the same strip of shops and were not even looked at by staff let along greeted so turned around and walked out, finding ourselves wandering into La Cibo. The staff greeted us right away and were very friendly. Once we ordered the food arrived fairly quickly and looked amazing! We had Eggs Benedict and Pancakes with berries and ice cream. The eggs were fantastic, cooked perfectly with the yummiest fresh hollandaise. The pancakes were so light and fluffy and had so much berry topping! Coffee was a little milky but overall nice. We're getting married in Gisborne on 5/5/2012 and were looking for somewhere to have a breakfast for our immediate family & bridal party the day after, and this place is it. Decor is a little outdated but the food more than makes up for it!
