La Cocina Peru

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend few weekends ago, wasn't impressed!

We are happy to try some new things but this one has serious problem in the kitchen.

We have ordered a lamb with rice, a salad and a dessert. The lamb and rice was something different and we believe it was something local. However the problem was the salad and dessert! I ate here with my family and friends. Ordered more than 12 different plates. Food was nice except for the seafood and lamb that smelled pungent.



We complained and sent back the seafood telling the waiter that it smelled pungent and that the prawns, especially the calamari in it was crumbly and tasted off. There are only a handful of Peruvian restaurants in Sydney which makes La Cocina Peruana a great place to discover traditional Peruvian cuisine.



While the food is good and service is what would be expected of a small restaurant, its not what I would call exceptional. Having been there a few times now, I can't say that its always great, but I find myself going back every few months.



The menu has a variety of popular South American dishes which makes it easy to find something you like. I would recommend everyone try the Ceviche (raw fish cooked in lemon/lime juice) as well as the Tacu Tacu for a main.



Overall, I would say a good place to enjoy something different form your normal dining-out experiences.
