We want Melbournians to experience something so integral to Mexican culture: the taste of truly authentic freshly baked tortillas from a traditional tortilleriaCome visit us to buy fresh tortillas, baked right before your eyes. See our stone-grinding mill and tortilla machine in action, whilst enjoying a Mexican street snack from our on-premises taco stand. We are open for lunch from 11:30am to 4pm Sat & Sun and 12pm to 3pm Tue-Fri (dinner-time opening hours coming soon!). We also stock a range of essential mexican products, tortilla products, including tortilleros, comales and tortilla presses.

I am a BIG fan of Mexican food, so maybe a little bias here ;) But seriously it is worth visiting. The flavours are excellent, not too spicy not too bland. Service is fast. Maybe a touch overpriced.

like a shining beacon of mexican soleil (thats sun) set amidst the industrial bleakness of this little patch in kensington, La Tortilleria shines brightly like the mexican star it is. You'd struggle to miss it with its cute exterior emblazoned in blue with mexican imagery. step inside & you almost fall on the counter to one side & the tortilla making space on the other, but its deceptively large with lots of tables out the back. the food is pretty much mexican hawker food, tasty, simple, authentic. you can order single selections of soft shell taco's, quesadillas etc or you can opt for the gringo sampler with chef's choice of fare. theres a good range of mexican drinks, not to worry, its byo! yep, this is the best mexican cuisine this side.
