You really have to time yourself if you want to come here, because it is closed between lunch and dinner, and if you don’t get here at the right time you will find yourself at the end of a line. Well, that isn’t surprising because not only do they serve some absolutely delicious laksa, but it is pretty cheap as well. Not only that it will appear on your table before you can blink. Oh, they only take cash, but then again, it is pretty inexpensive.
With a name like Laksa King, you know you got to try their laksa. There's several variety of laksas you can choose from including seafood, duck, scallops? however I usually go with the combination one. The soup base is quite creamy and spicy. Apart from their laksas, most of their dishes are the common fairs found in most Malaysian inspired restaurants. The one thing I dislike about this place is that it can get very busy during lunch and dinner time.
This place is a neighbourhood gem. It really raises the profile of the New Market/Ascot Vale area as a westside dining restaurant that's a serious player. As the name suggests, they do laksa (traditional Malaysian hawker styled curried noodle soup) and they do it extremely well. This place is always busy and boasts an impressive menu of other Malaysian cuisines. The roti was not made on site and was just ok, but apart from that the service here is fast and friendly. There is a $7 corkage charge per bottle so it's better value if you come here in a larger group. I also rate the Hainanese chicken rice they have here as well.
