I asked for a medication with codeine in it and they demanded photo id. I handed over my licence and asked under what law they could request it. The pharmacist said it was a recent rule in the pharmacy. As I was not sure how my information would be stored, I asked for my licence back and left the store. Won't bother going there again - will keep going to the large pharmacies - at least you get treated like a human and with customer service.
They are going to keep record of people who buy codeine items over the counter because if you know anything about it, Codeine is a member of the class of drug known as opiates with morphine-like effects. Therefore by law pharmacists have to ask for ID so they know they are not going from store to store grabbing the maximum quantity possible.
