When one thinks of an Early Childhood Centre, you think cosy, clean, comfortable. Not so is the Lalor Park ECC. Possibly one of the most run down services I have EVER visited: there were two broken plastic chairs in the foyer. The waiting room had the same, and I almost took my coat off to sit on it, wondering whether I might catch something contagious. The bathroom was straight out of the 40s: bright green bath (what??) colour tiles and tiny hand basin. The rooms are lined with old, worn linoleum, begging to be ripped up and changed. The paint on the walls are peeling back, exposing the old concrete backboard. Even the scales that the nurse used to weigh my son were about 60 years old. I realise this is a free government service, but seriously, take some pride in the services provided people!! Whinging aside, yes it's free and the nurse who saw us was lovely and helpful, but everything else, from the facilities to the appointment making software is really archaic ...read more
